Cleaning that works for you
1. Intake
RTIs are delivered via fixed routes or regional locations. We tailor volumes and frequency to your chain and schedule.
2. Cleaning & inspection
Each RTI is cleaned, disinfected, and inspected fully automatically in accordance with HACCP and ISO standards, with complete batch registration.
3. Back in the chain
We deliver when you need it. We agree on clear delivery times and locations. After use, we collect the carriers and take care of maintenance.
Specialized cleaning for the cheese industry
At HB RTS, we go beyond cleaning standard RTIs. We also offer specialized cleaning for sectors with extra high standards for hygiene, quality, and control. A good example of this is our service for the cheese industry: in Drachten, we have a location that is fully equipped for cleaning wooden cheese boards.
Many cheeses are matured on wooden boards. These must be thoroughly cleaned and checked for quality to ensure they remain suitable for reuse. HB RTS therefore not only cleans cheese boards, but also planes and repairs them. This extends the life of the wood and keeps the boards in optimal condition for the maturing process.
This operation is partly automated, but also requires manual and visual inspection. Precisely because of hygiene and food safety, this work is often not desirable at a production location. With our location in Drachten, we are close to cheese-producing regions, saving customers transport kilometers and allowing us to focus entirely on this specialized application.

We clean a wide range of reusable transport packaging, including Magnum Optimum, E-crates, E Performance crates, CBL crates, EPS crates, FECT boxes, folding crates, and adapter trays.
In addition, we clean all our pallets, liquid bulk containers, dry bulk containers, and UN Approved Hazardous Containers. We also clean other RTIs, provided they fit within our washing processes or via a customized solution on a larger scale.
Cleaning is standardized: RTIs are cleaned, disinfected, dried, and inspected fully automatically at one of our many washing locations.
We are continuously working to make our cleaning processes more sustainable. Our engineers focus on reducing water consumption and using energy more efficiently. By 2025, we will have achieved a 50% reduction in water consumption and a 34% reduction in gas consumption compared to the previous year.
We have big ambitions: further reductions in water and gas consumption are planned for the coming years.
The rates for cleaning depend on the type of RTI, the volumes, and the desired cleaning frequency.
